SUMMARY:

This article talks about how children are being exposed to everyday chemicals before they come out of a mothers womb. With being exposed to chemicals more children are being born with developmental problems.

REACTION:

Learning about all the chemicals and toxins in our environment has really opened my eyes. I didn't realize how many chemicals are around us. Everything we touch could possibly be hurting us. In my article they talked about how there are 84,000 chemicals on the market today but only one percent of them have been studied for safety. But without those chemicals alot of our every day stuff wouldn't be created. But what shocked me the most is that the chemicals mothers use on a daily basis are harming their children. In 2009 researchers found that a child as an average of 232 chemicals in their blood. This children are being harmed by our enviornment before they are even breathing this air.

Environment

Environment is a big topic lately, everything we do affects our surroundings. I think we need to pay more attention to how we are hurting our environment. There are so many simple ways to help the environment but not enough people are willing to change their habits. Putting reusable bags in our cars instead of getting paper or plastic bags from the store is an easy way to start. The paper bags hurt the enviornment just as badly as the plastic ones do, if we stopped using them we would save a ton of resources and a lot of animals' lives. The easist change to our daily lives is bottled water, carpooling would be an easy option too.

I don't think people need to drastically change their lifestyles but some things are so easy and if you get started on them now after a while it will just become a habit and you won't even realize what you're doing. A lot of environmently friendly things would help save money for your family too. If you live close to people who are going in the same direction as you jump in one car instead of two. This will not only save gas money but it will save resources to, helping you and the environment. All you need to do is buy a couple water bottles and fill them up at home, it will be way cheaper for our families and bottled water isn't cleaned before it goes into the bottles so it is just like drinking your tap water, if not worse.

I think our government needs to be more aware of environmental issues. I think our government should stop building our cities so spread out and start building up, put apartments on top of businesses. This would help in so many ways, it would use less land and everything would be closer together. If everything is closer together then we don't need to drive, and by not driving we save resources. If the government inforced recycling so many more resources would be reused, more people than you think don't recycle which is crazy, it is so easy and it's another one of those things that if you start doing it, it will become a habit.

I feel as if we don't start to change our ways we are going to end up hurting the enviornment for good and run out of the things we love. We are using up all of our resources and if we don't do something about it eventually we won't have them, and they won't just magically appear here either. We need what the Earth provides for us and we are taking it for granted. Saving our environment will help our families save money too.
